Sometimes we will Stumble

The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;

though he may stumble, he will not fall,  for the LORD upholds him with his hand. (Psalm 37:23-24)

In other translations… the steps are directed & established by the Lord. Though a person falls he will not be utterly cast down…he will not be hurled headlong because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.

I love a mountain hike or trail walk. I think about those paths, and how sometimes there are roots, rocks, and other obstacles that can cause a person to lose their footing, stumble, and fall.

When we walk in the way of the Lord and delight in him we won’t be perfect.  We will make our share of missteps,  and obstacles/trials we don’t even have in our view can cause us to stumble or trip.  But to realize that if our delight is in him, GOD is there  to uphold us with his hand. We may trip and have to take some time to balance ourselves, re-prioritize, re-focus….but we will not be utterly cast down.

So very thankful today that even in the most tumultuous tumbles throughout my life when I didn’t even know which way was up that you were there to hold my hand, to uphold me.  I pray that, daily,  my walk will delight in you, my loving, wonderful Savior.
