Ouch…. my pride hurts!!
Sometimes I wish I could just choose to duck out…skip this trial or difficulty!!
My daughter is facing one of those tough times. She wanted to take gymnastics in preparation for cheer tryouts. I think the class was much more demanding than she expected. I could tell her pride was bruised. Tears were shed and I know she would prefer to not see that gymnastic floor again. Now I could let her quit after she discovered it did not come magically… but what would she take from that?
“If life gets tough you can quit”? “Everything in life will come easy”?
“If you really want to achieve something and it isn’t handed to you then give up”?
“Life is supposed to be easy” or “you can opt out of anything that doesn’t suit you”?
“We seem to learn best when we humble that pride and become willing to be teachable”.
“Somethings in life you have to work to acheive…yes it may be tough and may take you out of your comfort zone but it will be worth it!”
“God uses these trials that we face to build our relationship with him and prepare us for the future”. “Strength and faith are reinforced as we face our trials/fears and persevere” .
Let’s face it life isn’t always sunshine and flowers; At Some Point WE ALL WILL face difficulties …
Loss of loved ones
One thing is most certain as I look back over very difficult times, hardships and trials…I did not come out of the trial the same as I had entered the difficulty. I found somewhere during the refining and humbling that there had been growth, wisdom, strength ,etc in my character and my relationship with my Savior.
I am thankful to be a part of my children’s lives to comfort and encourage them as they face challenges, hurts, difficulties and joy with them when they celebrate triumphs, achievements and success.
Through this struggle I am reminded of my daughter’s favorite verse : I can do ALL things through CHRIST who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
